Eva Altobelli MD

Welcome to the possibility of change

this could be the first day of the rest of your life...

Dr Eva Altobelli

Hello and I appreciate you taking a moment to read this on your healing journey. My career has evolved as I personally have evolved to a less westernized medicinal model to a more eclectic search for wholeness. I stand firmly in the knowledge that we are all wounded yet we all possess an inner healing wisdom. The stories we tell ourselves create obstacles to healing. I am walking a path of curiosity, to soften assumptions and open a place for healthy growth.  Although painful I believe we have benefited from shining light on our systemic and institutional injustices and I hope that together we can all move forward, evolve and learn to heal.

I am a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, certified in Suboxone treatment. I completed my fellowship in the Department of Addiction Psychiatry at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, NY, where I completed my adult psychiatry residency as well. Prior to medical school I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Arizona and worked in the film industry in NYC for over a decade.

With a unique background in addiction, psychiatry, trauma and the arts I am a respected consultant on behavioral health topics and specialize in working with professionals and artists with addictions. I believe strongly in the mind-body-spirit connection and have tailored my practice to treat clients using a holistic approach. In conjunction with standard psychopharmacology and talk therapy, I integrate alternative modalities as part of the healing process.

Dr. Altobelli talks about determining a substance abuse treatment plan and incorporating the best treatment approaches for those in recovery from addiction. These individualized treatment plans can be made up of a variety of different treatments.

Medication can be an important part of the healing process. I believe strongly in education and help my clients understand their medication options as well as non-medication options. I do my best to minimize the use of harmful or unnecessary medications and use an integrated and holistic approach to treating psychiatric and substance abuse disorders.

Psychotherapy is a highly individualistic experience and integrates modalities that match the individual, with the goal of creating internal harmony in order to live fully and healthfully. Negative beliefs, self-limiting emotions, past trauma and current life stressors all work together to create current dysfunction, and it is this dysfunction we will explore and eliminate.

Alternative Treatments

In addition to traditional psychotherapy and medication, I employ a creative approach drawing from a variety of healing modalities encouraging the inner healer. Offering consultation and KAP ketamine assisted psychotherapy. Current research is illuminating psychedelics as a powerful tool for for healing. I stay current with the research and offer pre-and post-integration services for clients who are exploring non-ordinary states of consciousness.

A moment of self-compassion can change your entire day. A string of such moments can change the course of your life.

About My Practice

I find that life is a challenge for most of us, particularly trying to achieve a happy, peaceful life. The allure of self-medication to deal with life's stressors is often a temptation. Just being human and living within our society creates obstacles to stress-free living. We are complicated creatures and it has taken us many years of experiences and usually some trauma to become who we are now.

I believe strongly in the mind-body-spirit connection and have tailored my practice with a creative approach. In conjunction with standard medication management and talk therapy, I integrate alternative modalities as part of the healing process with the goal of creating a more harmonious life.

I feel we need to embrace compassion and forgiveness as well as the simple and practical aspects of life, friends, shopping, cooking, nature, laughter... my goal is to empower clients to utilize these tools to deal with the stressors we encounter and create a life filled with joy.

I appreciate that engaging in a therapeutic relationship can be a delicate and difficult process and do my best to honor that.
